Dear Michael,

     It's  not my name for this... but it fits. I outlined in detail a few 
weeks ago a method to have Photoshop select the green "noise" pixels in an 
astrophoto... these can come from various sources, most notably old PPF or a 
noisy scanner. Once selected, these pixels can be "neutralized" to create a 
smoother image with better color.
