Re: [APML] Agfa Optima film; was: SprintScan 35Plus settings
Hi Bobby and List:
Here are some very rough results from my one outing with Agfa Optima 400-2
film:
http://www.astronomy-images.com/tests/Sample%20of%204%20scans.htm
There's a high res cropped image (415KB) linked to the sample page. Sorry I
didn't get a usable M31 with this film; focus slipped! Please don't take
this as the final word on this film. I'm having troubles getting used to my
new Polaroid scanner (and it seems to have gone defunct on me now, so I'll
have to go back to the HP SmartScan for a while) so the scans you will see
on the Sample page look awful! However, the brighter ones are amenable to
cleaning up, as shown in the bottom right corner of the samples and on the
hi res page. The color is still off (too orangey-magenta-ish) but this could
presumably be taken care of with more skillful color management in the
scanning and Photoshop tweaking. It looks to me like this film has
potential. By-the-way, the film box calls it Optima 400-II but the edge of
the film says 400-2. B&H lists it as just plain Optima 400.
On the other film I'm trying, Konica Centuria 800: still working on the
scans!
