RE: [APML] 9mm or 12mm guiding eyepiece

On a related topic, I am curious about the 12mm astrometric reticle,
which allows measurement of angular separations, planetary diameters, etc.
Keeping in mind an earlier comment that more "noise" in the eyepiece makes
it harder to guide, I nevertheless think it would be good to know how to
conduct the more technical measuring applications of astronomy. Has anyone
seen a good source, either on the net or in book form, that would teach me
how to use the astrometric functions of that eyepiece??

I have owned both eyepieces, I don't like the Meade 9mm because the reticle
is
adjustable in x-y, a bit loose, it would actually shift in use.. the reticle
focus was a bit loose and would change focus on the reticle too easily.. get
the
12mm.

I don't know what the concentric circles are for..
