[APML] Acutance and MTF

Hi, 

I'm good informed about what are acutance and MTF
concept.
I've built an optical set up and I would like to be
able to "calculate numerically" the sharpness of the
images I get.
I've done this by calculating the acutance. This
works.

Now I've the MTF of my system, and I would like to be
able to compare it to the results I've had with my
acutace calculation.

Does anyone know if there exist a mathematical link
between the MTF of a system and its reachable
acutance?
I think that there should be something with the area
between the MTF real curve and the MTF ideal curve.
