Re: [APML] APML Changes?
Steve, I'm staying here also. And over at Yahoo too. And on the SBIG list,
well, I think you get the idea.
You may remember that there has been more than one discussion here in the
past about either mirroring this group on Yahoo or modifying the APML to
allow a files and image posting section. One of these discussions was just a
couple of weeks ago. The recent events here should probably be looked at as
just providing enough spark to get the ball rolling on something that
probably would have started soon anyway. It's certainly possible that this
Yahoo thing may just end up being an experiment that will allow members to
make a better APML. Many of the Yahoo list members already belong to the
SBIG, ap-ug (AstroPhysics) and other astro-related groups. I doubt that any
of them are really leaving here.
Time will tell what happens, but the best end result could still be a
privately run APML list with a files and image posting section. That can be
a great improvement for newcomers to the hobby and also to "old hands."
Can't just wait for something to happen, sometime 'ya gotta take the ball
and run. Unfortunately that's usually easier done when emotions flare up a
bit. That will pass, so while it's fresh some of us are going to give it a
try anyway :o)
