Re: [APML] APML Changes?
Robert--Putting APML on Yahoo would still allow us to all stay in one spot--just
a different one.
I'll subscribe to both lists. With the exception of APML, e-mail from all the
others can be read (or skipped) on the web. The reason my mailbox is
overflowing after a weekend away is not the Yahoo group postings, its APML
postings. Even that is OK because (with a very few notable exceptions) these are
my friends and I enjoy reading about what they're doing and thinking--even if I
don't participate in the discussion.
I respect the concerns of those members of this list who don't want to use
Yahoo.
Couldn't these concerns be addressed by not posting images an indvidual is
concerned will become Yahoo's property. Dont most people on APML provide links
to their own web pages when referring to images? Particularly sensitive
materials can be handled in direct e-mail correspondence. Anything else can be
gleaned and copied without attribution using astro-archives for example.
I've said this before, but the only spam mail I have received in 6 months of
being subscribed to 10 or 20 different Yahoo groups has come shortly after
having logged onto a astrophoto website provided for "free". Geocities comes to
mind immediately.
Also--as was noted previously--there is already a Yahoo "Astrophotography"
group. APML members who have joined have been warmly received.
Best wishes--wherever we end up
