Hi Aike;
         It's the mechanics, not the optics at question.  I have seen some 
superb cameras from the old East Germany, but some of them, not all, but 
some,  were notorius for the same faults over and over again.  One of them 
I remember, a nice 120 format camera, after so many uses the film cocking 
lever would just let go,a nd you could spin it untill the cows cam home an 
ever advance the film.
         A few years back I took in an order of binoculars direct from 
Russia.  Excellent contrast, in fact, side by side with brand new Fujinons, 
the sky background was just as dark and "snappy"  from one to the 
other.  But in the 50mm pairs I had, moving the focusing wheel was like 
rubbing two pieces of 220 grit sandpaper on top of each other.  yeah, those 
sold real well when people got to test them out. (cough, cough  :)
