Thanks for the comments, Steve.  I'm using a SS4000 - I don't think it's
from the scanner since I see this type of aberration on other photos around
the web taken through SCT's...

|  red/blue sides to the stars be caused by the scanner? I

|  I'd toss it out as a possibility.
