[APML] Failure from a beginner. Comments, please
Hello all:
I joined this group a couple of weeks ago and have not
been posting a lot, but have been reading every
message being posted here.
Last Monday I tried taking some pictures of the Moon
by using my camera at the prime focus of my 5" Meade
Newtonian telescope. I used a barlow lens on the
eyepiece to be able to obtain focus at the film plane.
However, none of the pictures came out at all. All of
them are completely black.
I had read on Robert Reeve's book that for objects
such as the Moon and the planets, using the camera's
autoexposure setting was ok. I took 2 or 3 pictures
with this setting but took the rest by making a
reading of the light coming through the eyepiece and
then considering how bright the Moon really was. I
took exposures at 1/60, 1/30, 1/15, 1/8, 1 sec, and
(using autoexposure 1.6 sec and 2 secs). As I said,
none of them came out.Maybe the film had something to
do with this, as I was using Fuji Velvia ISO 50
(before shooting the moon I shot most of the roll with
spiders in my garden). So, I really don't know what
went wrong. Any comments are welcome.
Thank you all
Alejandro
