Rajiv Gupta recommends matching the backgrounds before registration, especially for
a mosaic. If there is vignetting, it is best to do anti-vignetting (AV) in
Photoshop. The backgrounds can then be equalized with levels or curves. Then you
can register and assemble the images in RegiStar. Of course doing AV can be a lot
of work. You should be able to stack each 3-shot panel first, then you'd only have
two images to AV before mosacking.
I think you've seen my article on AV on web site. Also, Sean Walker published an
article in the latest issue of S&T about AV. I haven't seen any discussion of that
article on this list.
