Hi Scott--I see you've gotten lots of responses on this question.
I stuck an ammeter in series with the battery power lead on my ST4
a few years ago. When the peltier was running at  full warp speed trying
to cool the chip down, it was 1 amp, but once it reached temperature it
dropped down to about 750 mA.  So, the peak current is one amp, but
your average drain might be less if you have cool nights--say like Dominic!
