Re: [APML] M101 re-done
All,
With Alans permission. I reprocessed his M101 image from a compressed
jpg he sent me. Here it is:
http://aisig.sdaa.org/astroblogDetail.asp?imgID=445&UserID=67
Everything done in Photoshop 7. Here are the basic steps I took;
1. Adjusted levels to put the dark point at the foot of the curve for
each Red, Green, and Blue separately.
2. Made a slight curves adjustment on each color separately to get a
neutral sky background. Just slightly blue.
3. Made a flat field mask using the Jerry lodreguss method and
subtracted it from the image.
4. Re-adjusted the dark point again in levels for each color.
5. Fine tuned curves to keep slight blue sky background and get rid of
green in galaxy.
6. Did some grain reduction using NeatImage.
7. Final curves to bring out faint detail in galaxy arms.
