RE: [APML] Comet Machholz Composite

Stuart, Mike, Gary, and Chris,

Thanks for your comments. I followed Robert Gendler's "Hybrid
Composite Imaging" article in Sky and Telescope. I haven't quite
got the knack of shrinking/stretching stars yet. In addition, I
haven't figured out the best way to handle two sides of an image
that differ in brightness. As a quick fix for a relatively even
background, I've just been resetting the Black point; however, I
have a feeling this is not the best way to go about it.

Mike,

I got really lucky with the Comet Ikeya-Zhang images. It sure was a
find comet. The first time I went out I picked the worst spot as
light pollution from Pendleton was quite evident; however, this was
a good thing since it led me to finding my current dark site. Even
though we don't get many "perfect" nights in Oregon, it still is one
of the darkest places in the Continental U.S.

Wade
