[APML] Comet Machholz Composite
Well, I'm getting really close to the end of posting "new" Comet
Machholz images (i.e. I only have one or two more). Since I had
several nights when I took an image of the comet using the Pentax
165mm f/2.8, I decided to try a composite. As can be easily seen,
especially in the far left corner, this is my first composite. As
the weeks go by, I'll probably try to create a better image (i.e.
more subtle transitions between each separate image). In addition,
the stars embedded in the coma are unrealistic so I'll have to think
of a good way to get rid of them. Nonetheless, it does show its
track across the sky over nine days. In addition, it shows just how
crucial a clear, transparent night was needed in order to capture
its ion tail. The transparency improved with each night, reaching a
maximum on February, 9 2005.
