RE: [APML] Comet Bradfield C/2004 F4 - dawn April 25th

Hello Chris,
Yes, I think this is a compromise scene at best. I do prefer a
landscape component versus tracking with blurred landscape. I am going
to check out a landscape component with the Greenbank Telescope in the
foreground today. I believe the horizons will be OK to the northeast
from the valley where the scope resides. I have the 10d as well as the
medium format with Fuji NHG 800. I think grain on this shot may be
tolerable and might even add to the scene. Wish me luck and thanks for
the help on exposure!

Best regards,

Thanks Jeff, John, Roland & Stuart.

Jeff - The Fuji Press 800 recorded the scene quite well. However, the
grain
can be annoying. I did a pass of SGBNR to smooth it out. If you have a
small portable mount setup (i.e. Kenko Skymemo or Great Polaris), I
would
probably go with Provia 400F and do a tracked exposure anywhere from
30-60
seconds. Just to minimize the trailed stars. IMO, with a 50mm lens, 30
seconds is the limit to record stars that are not overly trailed.
