Well, not exactly, just generally misapplied and misunderstood.
I can tell that even 20 years ago when doing doing high-frequency
time-series data, we generally aimed at 10x Nyquist for our sampling.
That is almost certainly overkill for astro image data, but that
Nyquist is only giving you a bound for the minimum you need to collect
all the data. Collecting a bit more leaves room for the
post-acquisition filters to massage the data without introducing their
own artifacts.
