Re: [APML] FSQ-106 - my early results...

That was indeed a scan of the negatives.

Fyi.. I've initially installed the scanner software
on the ibook -- the primary "justification" for the scanner
was use by my daughter (no, not for film, she does pencil
drawings and such.)

The silverfast (sp?) software that came with it was
less-than-acceptable for getting good scans of negatives.

I found the epson import driver very good, with good color
balance with default settings. The epson driver also has
curves adjustment builtin, which is not as good as photoshop
curves. Also, photoshop elements, which is included and
installed on the ibook does not have curves. Hence, the
not so good post-processing.

When I get some time, I'll be reprocessing these on
the windows box where there is an installed PS w/ curves.

Btw, the other thing that is nice w/ the 4870 is that
the film holder has capacity for four "strips" of 35mm film.
Most scanners I've seen only have capacity for a single
strip, and usually its only two or three frames.
