Michael,
All the cameras that have color sensors have IR-cut filters. Many will
respond at 650nm, but i doubt you will have one going below 700. IR
completely destroys color balance, so they can't use it.
Sony is paying some tricks with it's camcorders/cameras for the 'night
shot' mode which uses IR illumination; They may remove the IR filter or
rely on the residual NIR response and bin heavily to increase sensitivity
- i don;t think you get the full camera resolution/sensitivity that way.
Anyway, any color camera that does not have a special mode will have an
IR-cut filter - there's no doubt about that.
