Re: [APML] Wide lens (was OT: Canon EF lenses - lens factor inDSLR's)

Hi Dominic -

I'm familiar with these Russian lenses.  I had looked into buying the 8mm but found out it does not give a true circular image.  Instead it overflows the frame on two sides.  The 16mm f/2.8 is still a possibility.  I wonder how image quality compares to the Nikon 15mm f/3.5 rectilinear, an awesome lens IMO?

Hi Chris !

I bought a zenitar lens , a 16mm fisheye @ f 2.8 for ~150$ (us) brand new and I'm verry satisfied of it :) You can have even a 8mm for 200$ ( soon I'll have one :) , it's Russians mark but they are verry well done !!! You can see some of my results here http://spacew.com/gallery/DominicCantin

The only nit is when the lens is at f 2.8 , the bright stars on border around the picture are not exactly round but when you put the diaphragm at f4 or even at f 3.5 , all the stars are round. I cant wait to take the milkyway from cygnus to scorpio :)

you can find these lens here http://www.russiansouvenirs.com/cameras_len.htm ( they are from Russia but they have a transit store to Virginia )( 10 days for delivery ) or here http://www.rugift.com/photocameras/index.htm ( Rugift are in Russia only ) ( 4 weeks for delivery )

I hope this help !
