Re: [APML] RE: HTML

I accept my friends as they are, and wouldn't dream of telling them tell them
how to think, speak--or post.

Perhaps the internet of 2 decades ago had slightly different bandwidth
considerations than the internet of today?
Todays internet has streaming audio and video gobbling up big chunks of
bandwidth.
And according to my ISP more than 50% of the incoming e-mail they receive is
unsolicited spam

I post without HTML (unless I hit the wrong button) on APML because Gene
requests it and it keeps the digest uncluttered.
However I note that HTML doesn't seem to adversely impact the astro archives
(www.astroarchive.com) of APML posts.
APML is the only newsgroup I accept incoming e-mail from--I read the rest on
line. And yes, I speak Unix.
I have never--read that again "never"--received a piece of e-mail from APML
with a virus in it.

I understand that HTML capable newsreaders (and there are plenty of
non-Micro$oft ones) can be attacked by HTML viruses.
Thats why I use anti virus software. Sure there's an element of risk
associated with this, but I happen to enjoy some of the
benefits of HTML enabled mail readers---and I wouldn't enjoy returning to the
1200 baud limitations of the internet of
"decades ago". How many APML users actually still pay "by the bit", or use
modem connections at less than about 30 kbps?

Again--I accept the group rules to not post in HTML or discuss CCD imagery.
But I'd be happy to vote on changing the rule relative to either.

Respectfully--Steve
