Hi Frank,
I had the pleasure of visiting Yellowstone two
summers ago. It’s a big and
beautiful park so you’ll have a lot of choices. If were me, I’d try for a geyser and
moon shot. I don’t have a feel for
the relative light levels but it could be an awesome shot if it all worked out.
One of the best geyser areas is near Old Faithful where a
trail runs from the lodge (also very picturesque) past Old Faithful to a
number of smaller geysers. It seems like
you should have a good chance for at least one to erupt during the eclipse. Make sure and have the moon on the upwind side
during the eruption because there will be lots of steam and spray.
Best of luck,
Dave

Yellowstone
I will find myself in Yellowstone NP on the evening of May
15. The moon will only be at 10° elevation at maximum eclipse so it seems that
all kinds of "widefield" possibilities exist. An added plus is that
it should be around the "blue" hour.
Anyway - Having never been there before I was wondering if
anyone have any thoughts as to a good place in the park to set up
to photograph it?
