[APML] ST-4 vs. ST-5 as autoguiders

Hi all,

I'm looking for a true standalone autoguider to use with my GM-8. I
believe the only guiders that can be used without relay boxes (or
optocouplers) are the ST-4 and ST-5. Meade guiders do not work with the
Losmandy stepper motors. I'm advertising for an ST-4 but a search of
the astromart archives shows that ST-5s pop up too in the same price
range.

I'd like to know what the difference between these two are and if there
is an advantage either way. The GM-8 will carry a TV-85 and a 70mm
guidescope. All things being equal, I like ease of use and setup
features. I had an ST-4 before and thought it a PITA to use. Is the
ST-5 similiar in this respect?

I have determined that the ST-7EI requires too much extra equipment
(laptop + extra batteries) for extended field use, so that will be a
stay at home setup with the LX200.

Sorry for the double post but I want to reach as many users of both of
these as I can.

Thanks,
Alan
