I'm pleased to see some acknowledgement that these discussions have
gotten too personal. I don't see a reason why that should ever happen.

Sometimes we can draw our lines in the sand too deeply, and when that
happens we lose some perspective, our minds can close and we can stop
learning what others have to teach. Personally, I always want to be
able to absorb anything worthwhile.

Exactly. Many of us straddle the line between film and CCD. While I
have never taken a CCD image (other than dark frames for autoguiding),
I have learned much from the guys on the SBIG group. Here's someting
that maybe a lot of you have forgotten: "the inspiration factor". Every
time one of you posts one of your excellent shots, it motivates me to
get my ass out there and do it too. It doesn't matter how the image was
captured, or processed, or what expensive equipment was used. The fact
is that a fellow amateur astrophotgrapher did it, not the Hubble, not
the Keck. That always inspires me.
