These are DDR-DIMMs, correct?

I don't know where you are getting your memory but there is not a
1:4 difference in 256MB to 512MB prices.  It's more like a 10% to
20% premium for the 512MB stick.  (e.g., $25 and $55).

I would get 2 of the 512MB sticks (you can get good ones with
lifetime warranty for ~$60 apiece).

www.newegg.com is a good and reliable web retailer with decent
prices (IMO).
