RE: [APML] Reprocessed "first light" M81
Hello Brian,
That is a lovely M81. The arms look great! I am not very good at
processing galaxies, but I did play with this just a bit. I thought a
little boost in the green curve helped give a more natural color and just a
little decrease in the color balance in the shadows of the blue. Don't know
how to work with the stars to achieve a tighter look other than star shaping
per Matt BenDaniel's instructions. Great shot and thanks for sharing.

Subject: [APML] Reprocessed "first light" M81
Hi All,
I received a lot of good feedback when I posted my "first light" of M81 and
after
reprocessing it with different resolution enhancement techniques ( DDP
followed by LR) and
more saturated color, this new image I think much better portrays M81's
majestic
appearance.
The reprocessed image is at:
http://www.heavensgloryobservatory.com/Color_Jpegs/m81FRGB05-6303Eweb.jpg
This LRGB image was taken with a 20" RCOS and Finger Lakes IMG6303E CCD
camera
with 72:24:24:24 minutes exposures respectively all in 2x2 bin mode.
The bright stars were severely bloomed and I have yet to figure out how to
get the "tight"
deconvoluted stars seen in other published images. Suggestions and comments
welcome!
Best regards, Brian
