RE: [APML] COMET PHOTO OP ??

Don't worry! It has been clear most nights here in West Texas! In fact, we just received a bit of rain last week. That ought to help keep the dust down.

Glen,

What makes you think that the weather will clear up in Texas?  TSP starts this weekend.

Probably not.  First of all, you'll have to use a focal length of between 300-600mm.  Larger than that and the comets will be at the far edges of the frame (or you'll cut off any tail in I-Z).  Smaller than that and you may not even recognize S-M as a comet.

Secondly, and more problematic, will be the last quarter moon which will rise just after midnight.  You'll have a small window of opportunity before it begins to interfere.

That said, I'll still go out and try to shoot it...if the weather ever clears up down here in Texas!

I've just updated my comets ephermis in "Starry Night Pro" and it shows Comet Snyder-Murakami about
2.5 degrees below Ikeya-Zhang tonight.

My planetarium software shows S-M at about mag 10.8 and I-Z at about mag 5.3

I've got no chance in England (heavy rain) - is it worth any one giving it a try??
