[APML] another Histograms

Hello All
First off I have never understood Histograms, much less how to manipulate,
or why, though I have a bank of astrophotos that look nothing like what I
think they could look like, if I understood them better in the beginning. I
have been following this thread since it started, and have scratched my head
in confusion more than once! I love it because I have learned a lot!!!!! It
also forced me to look into my PhotoSmartS20 scanning Help and have learned
how /why/when to adjust. The advantage, I see with the S20  I think is  the
ability to adjust the different functions and see the histogram change and
observe the picture I am working on. I have to admit I didn't know how
important it is to do these things when you scan as opposed to after you
scan. Is anyone else using the S20?? I would appreciate any help you could
offer. I am willing to share any knowledge with anyone.
