Re: [APML] Dark Sky article

Don't feel too bad Tony.  Your New Balance shoes were probably as much Made in USA as any other marked with the USA sticker but because of highly exclusive trade laws on shoes, they had to be marked as imports.  Most "Made in USA" NB shoes are actually assembled by American crafts-people but if just the shoelaces and maybe the dye are made in another country, NB has to mark them imported.  In your case, made in China.  It's a little trick the American leather industry lobbied congress to write into law just before they all bailed out and moved their factories overseas.  If your shoe contains some minor amount of foreign material, you have to mark it as an import even though the labor is all domestic.

Richard,

Thanks for the images... I needed a new pair of running shoes so I went to get a pair of New Balance brand shoes... they are the last to actually have factories in the US... bought the shoes, went home, as I was putting them on I looked at the label... "Made in China"... I give up!
