[APML] Holding film flat for scanning (was: Nikon Coolscan LS2000)
While searching to find a source for 6x9 mounts, I found this message
on photo.net
http://www.photo.net/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg?msg_id=001z9c
which has two references to medium format slide mounts. One is a UK
company whose web site has very little information; I'm waiting a
reply to my email. The other is http://www.tssphoto.com/sp/69.html
which has product information for 6x9 slid mounts which use a
"cohesive" between the two halves which supposedly won't stick to your
film. The let you order samples and I may request one to try it out.
If it doesn't stick to the film, I'm not sure how I can stretch my 6x9
film so it stays flat for the scan.
I can't find anyone who does 6x9 glass slide mounts. I just came back
from B&H and couldn't even give me anyone who does 6x9, period, much
less glass.
Since my scanner is the Epson 2450 flatbed, I may try to get a small
piece of glass to just hold the film flat against the bed. The
scanner controls allow you to override the default focus position for
film and tell it to focus on the glass, so maybe this will work.
