Stefan, I think your right, I did some experiments with schmid shots
yesterday, and even a normal slide mount leaves differential focus across
the frame.  I think it has to do with the faster lens of the Nikon, vs my
old Polaroid sprintscan which was f/8 and had a much greater depth of field.
Off to the store for glass slide mounts!

I place it into a glass slide holder. Especially when I try to scan the
whole
image
of my schmidt pictures.
