It shouldn't matter in what order you adjust the three color channels. The way I do it, it's not a one-time operation. Using layers means you don't need to get it right on the first try. I'll do a rough curves layer. Then I'll go do something else, like anti-vignetting, and then another iteration on the curves. Then I might do star shaping, and afterward go back and give the curves another adjustment. The main curves of an image is the most important single processing step, and it takes a lot of time in aggregate.
