The Eta Carinae Nebula is one of the largest known HII regions in our galaxy at about 300 light-years in diameter, so it should be fairly easy for astrophotographers in M31 or M33 to record. By comparison, NGC 604 and the Tarantula Nebula, two of the largest HII regions in the known universe, are about 1500 light-years in diameter.

   I wonder if the Milky Way galaxy was viewed from say, M-31... would these nebulas show up as little pink spots on our film? Are these representative of the larger nebulas, or does the Milky Way Galaxy have larger ones that we cannot see? Ultimately, how would these nebulas stack up to ones that we can see in M-31?
