Re: [APML] OT: Megastar support

An update in case anyone wants to install Megastar on a
drive different than C:. I did this on Windows XP, but
it should work for most versions of Windows.

Thanks to John Mirtle, his suggestion seems to have
worked with one slight wrinkle. I managed to install
Megastar under H:\apps\megastar using the following
procedure.

1) If you have a previous installation of Megastar, move
the database directories (nso, star, gsc) from C:\megastar
to D:\ so that they are not on your Windows partition
(which is usually C: for most people). Now go to step
(3).

2) If you are installing Megastar for the first time,
install it in the default location C:\Megastar. However,
install the databases in D:\

3) Copy over the entire Megastar directory from C: to
wherever you want it to be (H:\apps in my case).

5) Edit the dirs.msp file (using Notepad, not Word!!!)
and double check that the database paths point to the
right place on D:. If they don't, fix it and save.

6) Edit any shortcuts on your desktop or Start menu
(right click, choose Properties) and edit them to point
to the new location of Megastar.exe.

7) Fire it up and make sure everything looks OK.

The only minor wrinkle is that the databases must be on
the C: or D: drive (which is fine if your applications
partition is D: or you don't mind other stuff in your
C: windows partition).

Disclaimer: This worked for me, YMMV.
