     Maybe it wasn't an Aurora.  For some reason I got the impression you're from the Scandinavian area countries, but I might be wrong.  With that in mind though and re-reading your posts you sound pretty convinced you
were seeing "a cloud".  It could have been a hot spot of Aurora of could it have been Nectalucent (sp) cloud you were seeing?  They're extra stratospheric or tropospheric thin clouds which catch the Sun from way over the
horizon.  They're suppose to be mostly seen from the high latitudes.  Some people even make projects of photographing them.  It would be interesting seeing a few 200mm shots of these clouds.  You might be on to something
from your location...joe  :)
