Ahh! You forgot Chuck's number 1 rule of astrophotography in California:

Seeing is always terrible when we have an offshore flow. :-)

Last night it finally cleared up, there was the comet way up high in the
sky... but... either the seeing was so bad that the stellar nucleus was a
blob or the comet has faded to the point that it ain't there (stellar
nucleus)... at any rate, even with a telecompressor lens in front of the
ST-4, it wouldn't pick up the comet...  you guys with the Schmidt cameras
have a huge advantage over the refractor guys... I guess I could give it one
last try tonight using the STV... at least with that I know it's on the
comet and not some neighboring star.
