Hi Jim,
Does that mean I can shut the computer off after I focus it without any adverse effects?

Hi Jim,

I use it by computer and / or the control box without any problems or even resetting it.  Just stop the computer and start using the box.  I regularly use the box to position a star and then use the computer to record corrections etc.

Subject: [APML] ST4 Computer control

Hi APMLer's
I'm thinking about buying an inexpensive lap top to use for focusing my ST-4 instead of going by the brightness readings like I usually do. I don't want to actually run the ST-4 from the lap top. I only want to use it to achieve focus then disconnect it to conserve the lap top battery or just shut the laptop off. Does any one know if there would be a problem with the ST-4 if it's disconnected from the computer or shut off after I use it to focus? I don't know if it would loose the settings i.e. BA, B, C1, C2 ect. or if it would keep those in it's memory. I've never hooked it up to a computer before so I'm not sure.
Thanks for the help,
Jim Ives
