I'm thinking about buying an inexpensive lap top to use for focusing my ST-4 instead of going by the brightness readings like I usually do. I don't want to actually run the ST-4 from the lap top. I only want to use it to achieve focus then disconnect

You can use any laptop by the way. Our club uses an old 8088 laptop just for the guider. You can get those kinds of laptops for free...
