    Not noticeably warm.  The way to tell if it is working is to turn it on 
with the chip in total darkness (covered) and observe the readout values 
over time.  If the unit has been off for a while, when you turn it on, it 
will give a reading for the location of the brightest pixel.  In this 
initial case, the brightest pixel is being caused by heat noise, not 
light.  The first number will be the brightness value and then second two 
numbers will be its location.  As the chip cools down, the brightness 
number will decrease.  If it stays constant, it is not working.
