Re: RE: [APML] Mission Statement Change?

Greetings,

I don't like the idea of a cross-over list. Here's why:

-- The differences and similarities between film and CCDs are interesting, and can suggests ways of doing both better.

-- Both types of work rely on similar processing techniques, and the users of both types of detectors can benefit from the techniques and experiences of the other.

-- Telescopes, mounts and much of the support equipment is the same.

So, here's my suggestions to the CCD folks:

-- Don't post just a CCD image. Make your post relevent to _this_ list.

-- Don't post on topics of interest to CCD imagers only. Make your post relevent to _this_ list.

If you've been watching, there are very few CCD-only people that actively participate on APML and even less that frequently violate the above. So, if we, as a group, are unhappy with the direction of APML, why don't we politely comment on the inappropriateness of certain posts instead of bifricating a useful, unique and interesting forum? Where else can we learn good stuff from both methods? Hopefully, after a few gentle reminders the list will settle down and we can continue to enjoy this useful interaction.

I still want to see Tony's RGBs, Rob's 5-hour M51 and Roland's next adventure with his Mak without being burdened with yet another list. Enough said...
