Pretty much all of the high end NEC & Sony monitors are from
my experience the best you can buy for this use.  But they are 
also the highest priced....

In the middle price ranges the higher end Viewsonic and Compaq
monitors work almost as good but with a noticeable price break.

Try and avoid the middle-middle range and especially the lower
end models.  Often a lot of what you are paying for in the
higher end models is finer colour control - which is what you
are looking for.
