Neither, it is field rotation.  This is a very close crop froma big 6x7 negative.

Jeff, no blue nebulosity in M47 that Ive ever heard of.  That is a gorgeous
M46 shot, the film is a good match for this object.  Some coma in the
extreme corners, but its hardly noticeable.  Here is my close up of the
planetary:

This looks more like a guiding problem than coma.
