RE: [APML] Supra 800 film

Alan:

That's a very intersting thought, shooting 30 or more minutes to check
the response. I must admit that I've never considered that the color
response could be that different over that much time.

On the other hand, we get so few decent nights here in Ohio that I hate
the thought of spending that much time on a shot to see if the film
performs that much different... :-)

P.S. It appears I've just "discovered" Supra 400 for myself, based on
your comments and those of others on this list. I shot a roll last
night (don't ask how slow I felt at work today!) and was VERY impressed
at its color response. Very similar to Royal Gold 400, it appears at
first glance. At least, in 15-minute exposures, that is. Your
experience with longer exposures using this film are EXTREMELY
interesting to me now...

Hey Patrick,

Here is the reason I asked. When I tested Supra 400,
Fuji 800 and LE 400, if I had only taken 15 minute
exposures I never would have discovered what a strong
film Supra 400 is. What became obvious is that as LE
and Fuji started to die off, Supra kept on soaking up
light. But this was not noticable until about 40-45
had passed. If the films had only had 15 minutes
exposure in testing, I would have only used LE or
maybe Fuji afterwards.

Of course my needs may differ from yours, as I mostly
shoot at f/10. I have to have film that will perform
well during 30-200 minute exposures. I just had a
fleeting hope that maybe the 800 would have been as
strong over the same time frames.
