Hi Jim,

It couldn't be simpler.

Register the images.
Copy the Luminance image to the clipboard.
Paste the Luminance image as a layer on top of the RGB image.
Change the blending mode in the layers palette to Luminance.
Vary the percentage to taste.
Flatten.
