Re: [APML] LRGB pathway

I find different results also and which is better is dependant on the image.  Some are better with the LAB method and some are better with LLRGB.  I have never determined why, so I usually try both and keep the one I like best.  I know, very subjective and unscientific. (G)

Well... I'm pretty much fed up with M51 by now! : - )   But it did bring up an interesting problem that the PS gurus might want to take a shot at... namely:

There seems to be two ways to get an LRBG... you can either turn the RGB into Lab color (slight loss of data from what I have read) and copy the L to the clipboard... select the L channel of the RGB and paste it in...and then return to RGB...

or you can go the layers route where you keep the RGB intact, turn it into a layer, turn the L into a layer, and drag the layer icon of the L on top of the RGB choosing the "luminosity" mode of combining. Both these techniques assume that you have registered the images beforehand.

I notice a slight difference in the end results, mostly of density... would anyone want to comment on the preference of one method over the other?
