I had no idea there were that many galaxies in that tight area.
That is an amazing shot.
Tri color would even be more impressive.
 
Im looking at the outside arm on the left side of the image and just to the inside of it is a blob....is that in the galaxy itself or a distant galaxy beyond m51?
 
This change of pace for you must be exciting.

Hi once again,
 
   Last night I noticed that the graph on the STV was much smaller than previously... I was shooting 6 - 20 minute shots of M51... the seeing got better and better as a marine layer invaded the Sacramento valley. When I processed the image from this latest series, I became speechless... there are at least 50 small galaxies all around M-51, and the detail in the galaxy looked like something out of a "pro" scope, not some little 14.5" Cassegrain holed up in someone's back yard. I don't know what else to say, you guys take a look at it...
