Last night I noticed that the graph
on the STV was much smaller than previously... I was shooting 6 - 20 minute
shots of M51... the seeing got better and better as a marine layer invaded the
Sacramento valley. When I processed the image from this latest series, I
became speechless... there are at least 50 small galaxies all around M-51, and
the detail in the galaxy looked like something out of a "pro" scope, not some
little 14.5" Cassegrain holed up in someone's back yard. I don't know what
else to say, you guys take a look at it...
Have a good one,
Tony
Wow, and wow again!
I saw some of those background galaxys in your
color version of M-51, but nothing like this! Two of the brighter ones
are IC objects, some others are part of Larry Mitchell's brood of
annonymous galaxies that he gleaned off POSS plates, but it looks like over
half of them are completely uncataloged. Amazing sky penetration.
Just think of what kind of images you could make if you ever got serious about
astrophotography <G!>.
Tony, want to go head-to-head with the Hubble
Deep Field? You may give it a run for its money and just think, your
system cost $6 billion less!
