Tom,

I suppose that it would be of value as a basic anti-vignetting mask, or an
illumination-falloff mask .  However, in the case of film I think you'd have
to do this for each film type and exposure times due to reciprocity failure,
since the film does not necessarily act in a linear manner.    What say you,
list?
