RE: [APML] Comet IZ & M31 [was: Comet IZ from Arizona]
Bobby, no trailing, even under 10x magnification. Id say youd need to keep
it under 5 mins tops. My schmidt by the way is a old but well kept
Celestron schmidt. You got to love that f/1.5...

Here's the problem on these dual compositions with a fast moving comet like
IZ. The comet is moving so fast it will be hard to get the deep sky objects
exposed long enough before the stars and deep sky targets will be trailed.
The best weapon in this battle is a fast Schmidt camera like an f/1.5
Celstron Epoch Schmidt. The ball's in your court Chris <g>
Fastest thing I've got is a Pentax 67 105mm (f/2.4) and a Pentax 67 165mm
(f/2.8) lens. Those will be my weapons for the comet. I'd love to have two
67 cameras both going; one with TP for the luminance and another for the
color shot. IMHO that's what it would take to get one of these compositions
done well short of good schmidt camera.
Chris went 4 min at f/1.5. Chris did you see any evidence of trailing at
high resolution on your scans? I think the comet is moving it's fastest
(apparent motion) for the next week
