Mossies? Oh, mosquitoes. Flying teeth, bi-wing blood banks.
DEET works by preventing the mosquito from landing. I guess it burns their
feet or something. If you provide them a non-treated surface to land on,
they can bite through the DEET. I get it with my glasses all the time. I
spray a small rag and use it to wipe my face and temples and actually work
it into my hair. (I work a lot down in the swamp as you can tell.) When I
put my glasses on and settle back to watch for meteors, if I'm not careful,
they can land on the wire frames and reach over and bite me on the temple
through the DEET. Same for watch bands, the little ring on the
counter/clicker thing and especially any webbed lawn furniture. I would
imagine that they can bore through the latex but I haven't tried it. With
all the heat down here in the summer, gloves would be miserable.
