RE: [APML] A new Whirlpool Photo...
If nothing else is a factor, longer is better. But, I've got a pretty
serious skyglow problem where I shoot from so it's a delicate balancing act
between sufficient density and rubbing out the galaxy in the "haze". And
that discounts problems with focus/temperature shift, etc. Usually, density
loses in my case which is why I intend to go CCD when the opportunity
presents itself. Ironically enough, I only intended to go for 50 minutes in
both shots but fell asleep and went 70 on the first. Turns out conditions
were good enough that I should have shot at least that long on both if not
longer...
Almost forgot: no, the film wasn't hypered. As far as the Fuji SG stuff is
concerned, if anything, hypering just seems to make it more sensitive to
sklyglow.

Mike,
Nice shot! Do you think a little longer exposure would of helped?
Also
was the film hypered. Just asking, because I plan on shooting M51 with
my
8"LX200, next night out.
